My Favorite SNL Skit of All Time

One of my all time favorite Saturday Night Live skits from back when it was still funny

Chicken BBQ Shish Kabobs

Don't you just love easy to throw together meals? Cooking out is a favorite around here year round and we love experimenting with new ideas for things to throw on the grill. Some of my favorites this summer have been clams and corn on the cob, sliced yellow squash with honey garlic shrimp, and of course the much loved shish kabobs. They're a great way to use up leftover chicken, beef, and vegetables. Sunday afternoon we brushed cubed boneless chicken breasts with BBQ sauce and added Vidalia onion slices, green peppers, zucchini, and fresh cherry tomatoes.

Our favorite BBQ Sauces are made by Sticky Fingers-they're very affordable and come in a great variety of flavors. My favorite is probably the Carolina Sweet since it's loaded up with honey. I won a case of different flavors from a blog giveaway and now we're hooked! Thankfully we discovered on the store locator that they're sold locally, so we'll be repeat customers for sure!

Do you like to grill out? Do you have any favorite grilling recipes to share?

Time For a Wallet Upgrade

Updating my wallet is something I really don't do very often. For the past several years my old standby has been a black vintage leather model that I picked up at a local thrift shop. Lately it's been getting stuffed to capacity with business cards, store cards, coupons, receipts, shopping lists, insurance cards, and other items and I've been hunting for a better way to keep all my stuff organized. It's really helpful to have all my coupons in one spot when I need to run an errand while I'm out without having to go home to get my coupon binder so I love when a wallet has a ton of extra slots to hold everything.

The Savvycents wallets are really eye catching-their labeled accordion style coupon tabs would be so helpful to find what I need in a hurry.

Do you have a wallet that you love? Let me know!

Shopping for Fall Boots

There are so many gorgeous boots out for the fall season! I was looking for a cute pair of flat boots that I could wear with jeans and also boots with a bit of a heel that I could rock with a skirt and cute top. My favorites so far are from Aldo-they have free shipping over $75 so I think I might take the plunge! My faves:

My Favorite Bronzer- Laura Gellar Baked Body Frosting

Bronzing body shimmers are probably one of my favorite "fun" beauty products-I love the soft glow that they give your skin without having to live in a tanning bed. I've tried many of them over the years, and often times they are either too dark giving my skin a muddy look, contain large chunks of glitter that fall over everything, or are too subtle to produce any kind of effect. It can also be a hassle to use shimmer powder because it's hard to control where I'm applying it, and it's more likely to get on my clothing than where I want it.

Laura Gellar Baked Body Frosting is a product that I have been using all summer long and it has quickly become a favorite. It comes in a large compact in pressed powder form, so there's no loose powder flying everywhere. The supplied puff is very easy to use and applies the perfect amount of powder to my skin.
A really cool benefit of this shimmer is that it can be applied wet or dry to get different effects. Apply it dry for a subtle, soft glow, or mist the puff with a spray of water before application to get a dramatic sun-kissed golden sheen. It's also very easy to build layers to control how dark you want to get.

It's amazing for achieving that dewy, luminous look especially for legs when wearing shorts or skirts.  My favorite shade is honey glow, but it also comes in a light pink version called sugar glow-great for those with very fair skin tones. You can find both at Amazon.com

What summer beauty products have you been loving? Comment and let me know!

Freshwater Jellyfish?!?

I had no idea freshwater jellyfish even existed until we saw a swarm of them while kayaking. I took a short video with my digital camera and managed to capture a few decent shots. They were about the size of a quarter and there were literally thousands of them. I did an online search and discovered that they were freshwater medusa jellyfish, a non-native species currently found in pretty much every state. They have the same stinging barbs as saltwater jellyfish but are apparently too small to sting human beings-definitely good news there! They're easiest to spot in late August/early September, so keep an eye out for them if you're going on the water.

Kayaking at Beltzville Lake

We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather last Thursday so my boyfriend Bill and I decided to take the kayaks out on Beltzville Lake for the day. The lake is in Beltzville State Park in Carbon County about five miles east of Lehighton. It's a great place for fishing, boating, waterskiing, swimming, and picnics and it has over 15 miles of hiking trails that I can't wait to check out.
